● 8 blocks of approximately 40 questions

● 9-hour exam duration (including breaks)

Exam Timing:

Available throughout the year.

Exam Fees:

As of January 1, 2025, the exam fees for USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) are as follows:

  • Registration Fee: $1,020
  • International Test Delivery Surcharge: $230 (applies to test centers outside the U.S. and Canada)

Step 2 CK Study Strategy

1. Strengthen Clinical Knowledge and Test-Taking Skills
Build a strong understanding of core clinical topics, including disease presentations, diagnostic workups, and management protocols based on the latest clinical guidelines.

Equally important is mastering test-taking strategies—knowing how to approach clinical vignettes, eliminate wrong answers, and apply clinical reasoning under time pressure. Since Step 2 CK is now the only scored exam (after Step 1 became pass/fail), it plays a critical role in residency selection, especially for IMGs.

2. Use Trusted and High-Yield Resources
Choose a focused set of study materials to avoid overwhelming yourself with information:

  • UWorld Step 2 CK Qbank – Your primary tool for learning and self-assessment
  • AMBOSS – For detailed explanations and rapid reference
  • Pursuit of USMLE Step 2 Rapid Review Course – For concise, exam-oriented review and last-minute reinforcement
  • Divine Intervention Podcast

3. Take Regular Practice Exams to Track Progress
Assess your readiness and identify knowledge gaps by taking full-length practice exams throughout your preparation:

  • NBME Clinical Mastery Series (CMS) forms – Subject-specific assessments
  • NBME Step 2 CK Self-Assessments (Form 10–13) – Simulate the real exam
  • UWSA 1, 2 & 3 – Strong predictors of your Step 2 CK performance
  • Free 120 – Official sample questions from the USMLE website

4. Practice Time Management and Stamina Building
Since Step 2 CK is a 9-hour exam, time management is essential. Practice answering blocks of 40 questions under timed conditions. Develop endurance by simulating full-length exams during your final months of prep. Consistently practicing under exam-like conditions will improve accuracy, speed, and confidence.
